Newest painting- "519 Monticello"
18x24 oil on canvas
8/2011
The subject of this recent painting sent me on a nostalgic trip into my past. I made a visit, inside my mind, to my childhood home located on Monticello Street in Brookhaven.
The house was recently demolished and only an empty lot remains of what was once my home. It's a sad reminder that nothing in this life is permanent, all things are subject to change.
The house may be gone, the lot is now vacant and soon to be a parking-lot,
but my memories will always be in my heart.
Those pink flowery bushes in the front were my mother's pride and joy.
Spring would bring out the beautiful pink blooms on the azaleas.
No southern home would be complete without them.
